Together We Did It!

On Election Night, as I was showing a few people a map I'd made of all the households we'd visited over the course of the campaign, I suddenly realized it was 8:05 PM. The first moment of truth had arrived, when the early vote by mail ballot counts would be available.

It was with some nervousness that I checked the County Elections website. We'd run a solid, grass roots campaign.  We'd worked hard to get my message out, and it was one that I was extremely proud of. But would it resonate with voters? Feedback from talking to people on their doorsteps is one thing, actually turning in a ballot for a candidate something else entirely.

Whatever happened, I knew I'd run an honest campaign.  One built on transparency, accountability and innovation.  About doing things differently.  About engaging the people of San Carlos in the decisions that impact them.

The first results came in and I couldn't help but feel validated.  The long hours walking door to door throughout our great city speaking directly to voters had paid off.  Listening to the genuine concerns people had with the delivery of government services and talking openly about ways to make government more accountable and efficient had worked. More importantly, it had led voters to a place where they hopefully did not only feel like they were voting for me, but for a new approach for San Carlos.

All of which is testimony to all the help and support that I had from so many people in our community.  Without them, my election would not have been possible.

Together we have set the stage to improve San Carlos city government, making it more transparent, more responsive to the needs and desires of our community, and more creative in moving our town forward.

It'll be a big job, and require the time and energy of many people to realize. But I know we can do it. All it will take is what comes naturally in San Carlos: working together.

I am truly honored to have been granted the opportunity to represent the great people of our city.

All the best,
